Wadi Dawkah
Approximately 40 kilometers to the north of Salalah city lies Wadi Dawkah in the Najd region, beyond the northern slopes of the Dhofar mountain range. The valley is densely populated with the Frankincense tree, scientifically known as Boswellia sacra. Here, the ancient environment for producing frankincense has been recreated, allowing visitors to directly experience the traditional practice of harvesting. Preceding this, an experiment was conducted to produce frankincense in the reserve over four stages at different time intervals, using the typical traditional methods historically employed for frankincense production during specific seasons. Due to the significance of Wadi Dawkah as a listed site within the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage, it serves as one of the frankincense sites in the Najd region.
